_______
This ShareWare is a small communication utility that has been written
in Turbo-Pascal for the author's personal needs.
_______
It is easier to use than existing softwares like ProComm or DeskMate
because it was designed for a more specific purpose : to allow easy text
files exchanges between a TRS-80 Model 100 laptop computer (or
compatible, like the Models 102/200) and any PC-XT or close compatible
desktop computer (like the Tandy 1000) via the serial port (RS-232C) and
a null-modem adapter. Most accentuated and graphics characters are
translated automatically, and all the program settings can be updated
easily in the PCM100.COM file itself.
_______
128 K RAM, one single disk drive and one RS-232C card with a null-
modem adapter cable are enough to run PCM100 on the PC which operates
thru pull-up menus, function keys, and windows in B&W with any video
adaptater (Hercules, Monochrome, CGA _without snowing_, etc.).
_______
All the communication parameters, disk directory and files setups can
be changed easily by pressing the [F2] key to access to the setup screen
from the main screen. These default parameters can be saved onto disk in
the program itself for the next time.
Most of upper Ascii characters are automatically translated as well
during downloading as uploading.
Text files up to 32 K can be exchanged at speeds varying from 110
until 9600 bauds, though in this current version, some characters may be
lost at speeds greater than 4800 bauds from Model 100 to PC and 600 bauds
from PC to Model 100. This should be improved in a future version, by a
Xon/Xoff flow control!
_______
This current version uploaded to CompuServe IBMCOM Forum has not full
online help screens available thru the [F1] key. To use PCM100, you just
have to know that "upload" means to get a file into the PC from the Model
100 ([F3] key) and "download" to send a file from the PC to the Model 100
([F4] key).
_______
If you find this program useful or interesting, you may become a
registered user by sending 150 French Francs (or $25) to the author
(International Money Order preferred to US bank cheques). So, you will
receive the complete version of the program with the full Turbo-Pascal
source code and future upgrades will be automatically sent to you.
Thank you for your support!
